Why this form.
TRAACS® (The Real Amino Acid Chelate System) is Albion Minerals’ verified chelation technology for magnesium bisglycinate. Most magnesium supplements use oxide or citrate forms — cheap to manufacture but poorly absorbed and notorious for causing GI distress. TRAACS® magnesium is bound to two glycine molecules in a true chelate bond, verified by third-party testing to contain no unbonded magnesium ions. This means higher absorption and virtually no laxative effect at recommended doses.
Magnesium bisglycinate chelate is absorbed through active amino acid transport channels rather than passive mineral absorption. Studies show it achieves higher serum magnesium levels than magnesium oxide at equivalent doses, with significantly better tolerability. The glycine carrier also has its own calming properties, making this form particularly suited for evening supplementation.
Key Benefits
Research highlights.
Higher Bioavailability Than Oxide
Magnesium bisglycinate chelate achieved significantly higher serum magnesium levels compared to magnesium oxide in a crossover bioavailability study.
