The science is clear. Magnesium oxide, the most common form in cheap supplements, has an absorption rate as low as 4%. Iron sulfate causes GI distress so severe that half of patients abandon supplementation entirely. And the sleep supplement market is dominated by supraphysiological doses of melatonin — a hormone, not a nutrient.
